Week 7: Greasers & Pin Ups

Hello Party People!!

Welcome to Week 7!

As you can see, our theme this week is greasers and pin ups. Others may refer to this style as “Rockabilly”. Either way, this should be a super fun one!

Ladies,

Time to practice the pin curls, slap on that ruby red lipstick, and paint on the sas!

There are so many ways to go! Here are a few things to add to your costume:

bandana tied on top of your head, bangs, capris, flowers in the hair, pencil skirts, high waisted daisy dukes, and high heels.

Gents,

Time to bust our your leather jackets, tight t-shirts, and worn jeans, and guys, don’t be afraind to mess around with some hair gel.

Bar game: how many pins?

I will have a jar filled with push pins. Team closest to the actual amount wins.

Week 6: Cops and Robbers

Good Morning Zia Ballers!

Welcome to Week 6! I hope you all are still 100% invested in the season and are ready to have so much fun with us tomorrow.

Let’t take a quick minute to recap the week 5 fun. Thank you Becca for standing in for me at the bar last week!

Our Christmasy dressed winners last week were:

Tiawna from That’s What She Said and Magic Dave from Hot Dogs and Tacos! Way to bring the holiday spirit people!

Unfortunately we were a big ol mess and didn’t conduct a bar game this week.

We do however have a photo challenge winner! Congrats to P2K for incorporating the theme into their awkward family photo.

Week 8 Shenanigans:

Theme: Cops and Robbers

Bar Game: The Fruit Roll Up Game

Here’s how to play: 1 person per team. Unroll roll up and take off the paper. Start with one side in your mouth. With hands behind your back, eat the roll up.

For those of you who participate in the Mesa bar games, you’re familiar with this game. Clearly there was lack of coordination between leagues. OOPS! but that’s ok! if you didn’t get to participate the night Mesa did it here’s your chance, and for those who don’t play on Thursdays, well, don’t really matter to y’all cause your’re new to the game! Either way it will be deliciously competitive! Game starts promptly at 9:30 in the Karaoke Room! Granny had a bed time y’all.

Week 5 – Christmas in July!!

Helllllllo all you Ho Ho Ho’s!! JK! Merry Christmas in July ballers!

Let me recap last week’s shenanigans before I get into this week’s jolly good fun!

The 80s must be a truly beloved decade, we had soo many amazing costumes last week. Fellas, the ladies are kicking your butts in the dressing up department though! I’d love to see more gents dressed up for the rest of the season!

Speaking of dressed, both of our best dressed winners came from good ‘ol Ball & Oats! Makes sense, considering they’re named after Hall & Oats! Congrats to our winners Wes and Jenna!!

Our 80s Trivia winner was BURNS!!!!! The killer question was the one about Duran Duran. Their original name was…… Duran Duran!

Now For all the Christmas in July fun!!

This week’s theme is obviously Christmas in July! It’s ridiculously hot for ugly christmas sweaters, so we definitely gotta get creative this week people!

Bar Game this week is: Best Christmas Card Design!

Each team will receive a sheet of paper and a selection of crayons upon arrival to the bar. You will have until 9:30 to turn them in to me. Becca and I will then choose the best! By best, it doesn’t have to be the most artistically fabulous thing to ever roam the earth. It should be holly, jolly, funny, creative, heart warming, etc. Whichever one jumps out to us.

Week 4: We’re Half Way There!

Hey there kids! I hope y’all had a great week off! Now back to business. The business of fun!

Week 3 – ‘MERICA!! – F*** Yeah!!

My fellow Americans, or ehm, Kickballers, who just so happen to also be Americas!

Before we get into this week’s fun stuff, let’s recap last week’s fun stuff!

There were so many fun Biker costumes! And in this, second week of kickball, history was made, our reigning Best Dressed Lady, was de-crowned :O. I know. It was quite a shock. Don’t worry though guys, she has plenty of other chances to win her crown back, and I don’t doubt for one second that she won’t be coming back strong for it! So, who may you ask won the Best Dressed crown this week…

Magic Dave from Hot Dogs and Tacos showed us how tough he is in this bright biker attire, while Andrea from Free Ballers stole the crown right from under our noses!

In Bar Games news, P2K’s own Chris Edwards showed us his speedy ball handling skills! Congrats Chris! He was the fastest to move 6 ping pong balls from one bowl to the other using only the (heavy a$$) spoon in his mouth!

Now! On to all things fun on this week’s Kickball Night in America!!

Since we will not be playing America’s (WAKA’s) favorite past time on Independence Day, well some of you might, hell, I don’t know your lives, we’re going to do our tribute to ‘Merica this week. Bust out your most festive red, white, and blue every and anything to show how great America really is. I mean, we are grown a$$ adults, running around in costume, drankin’ some dranks, all on a week night. If that doesn’t prove how great it is to be an American, I really don’t know what does!

1 player from each team will get a stack of 25 cups, 24 red, 1 blue. We will start the game with the blue cup on top. The object of the game is to hold the stack and take the top cup and move it to the bottom. You will do this until the blue cup makes it back to the top. Player to complete the challenge first wins!

Week 2! Bikers!

Hello Zia Ballers!

Welcome to week 2! We had a really good turn out at the bar last week! Let’s keep it going for the rest of the season!

To recap Week 1:

The fields were glowing all night thanks to everyone who dressed up in Neon! We started out with a BANG! Our Week 1 best dressed were:

CJ from That’s What She Said! We loved the coordination of his booty shorts and pimpin’ hat! and who would have guessed.. Ishiah from P2K!! Can anyone compete with this lady?! If you wanna take her down you better step your game up up up!!

Our Bar Game winner was:

Felicia on Free Ballers!! She crushed this game!!

The team who won our first Photo Challenge of the season was the reigning LOTP champs P2K! Theyre game faces will be plastered all over the WAKA social media pages!

Now that we have taken care of old business, here’s what we have in store for you this week!!

Theme: Bikers!! Whether you are more leather and lace or spandex and butt pad, this is your chance to show off your best biker gear!

Bar Game: Scoop it Up

Objective: move 6 ping pong balls from one bowl to another using only a spoon – in your mouth! NO HANDS!! Team to finish the fastest wins!

Photo Challenge: Biker Brawl!

Objective: Stage the best biker brawl! Have your photos posted to the Zia FB page by 5pm on Wednesday.

Week 1: Let the Summer Games Begin!!

Hey there Zia Ballers,

 

 

Please allow me to formally introduce myself. Many of you know me from previous seasons and for running Mesa shenanigans last season. For those of you who don’t, my name is Vic, and I am in charge of all things “mandatory fun” for this summer season, call me the Fun Captain if you will!

 

 

 

This season is going to be great! We will be returning to Dave and Busters for all of our post-game fun.

 

Each week there will be a theme, please dress up! We tried to make them as simple and fun as possible for you. Best dressed will be decided on by myself and Becca (league CC).

 

 

 

 

 

Each week at the bar, there will be a bar game, selected and run by yours truly. Bar game winners will receive the coveted cape of glory! Each team will add to the cape and bring it with them to the bar the following week. Last seasons winners got super creative, lets see what this season’s cape will look like in 8 weeks!

We took your feedback from last season and have once again decided to implement the points system for Life of the Party (LOTP).

Points will be distributed as follows:

5 Pts: Closedown Crew: All party animals still at the bar after 10:30pm, post a pic to the Zia FB page. Each team still being represented after 10:30pm will receive 5 pts. No min amount of players.

5 Pts: Best Dressed: The best dressed boy and girl will be chosen by me (fun captain) and Becca (league CC). The best dressed’s team will be awarded the points.

5 Pts: Bar Attendance: Post a pic of your team at the bar. No min amount of players.

5 Pts: Team Theme: Post a pic of your team AT THE FIELD in costume.

5 Pts: Photo Challenge: Create a photo based on the guidelines assigned each week and be awarded 5 pts. Winner determined by Fun Captain and CC. Photo will then be turned into national WAKA FB, IG, Twitter, etc.

5 Pts will be DEDUCTED for any complaining about organized fun stuff! Don’t do it! Constructive criticism is appreciated and can be given in your mid and end of season surveys. Complaints for complaining sake will result in a pt. deduction.

There will be Bonus Bingo again this season. Still TBD.

Put on your game faces! Show us how your team cracks down when it’s time to get down to business. If you’re a fun team that kills em with kindness, show us them cheezers. If you’re all business, show us how serious you are about winning. Team who’s photo most embodies the spirit of that team on game day will be awarded the points.

 

Olympkicks!!

As promised, we will be having some extra fun activities for everyone to participate in at the tournament!!

In years past we have held different competitions at the fields, and everyone misses them, so we are bringing them back!!

We will have a field set up specifically for the competitive activities. We will have volunteers at this field throughout the entire tournament and will announce winners of the competitive activities at the ceremony. If you think you got what it takes to do some damage in any of these competitions, head on over and show us what you got!

It’s the Final Countdown!

Hello you amazing sons of beaches!

The final week of the regular season is upon us. Countdown to the end of the season starts now! This is the last week of regular season games. Next week it will be TOURNAMENT TIME!! First round of tournament will be next Thursday, and the ALL DAY tournament will begin Saturday morning! We have some FUUUUNNNN stuff in store for all of you, so get excited! There will be a separate post about what to expect!

I apologize for my absence last week :(. I’ve been trying to get rid of this cold or whatever the heck it is for a few weeks now. Don’t you worry your lil hearts though, I’m back to about 90% and I’m ready to get back to the fun!

This week we will not be doing any silly games, but this is the most important week to show up. YOU will be voting on our LOTP winner! This weeks “game” is our league superlatives. One of the categories will be LOTP, so if you want a say, you better show up!

Last season’s LOTP winners were HAKUNA MAWAKA! Let’s see if they got what it takes to bring home that cape for another season!

WEEK 7: SUPERCHARGED

This week will be SUPER fantastic friends! Before we get into all that, let’s recap last weeks fun n’ games!

It must be nearing the end of the season, as attendance at the bar is starting to fade. As your fun coordinator, that bums me out a bit. I do appreciate everyone that has been continuously showing up, but I would absolutely love to see more of your lovely faces there!! Let’s go out with a bang guys! How bout we pack the bar for the next two regular season weeks!!

Last weeks theme was cowboys and aliens. I know this theme thoroughly confused everyone, but I was happy to see that effort was made in coming up with some interesting costumes!! I asked for assless chaps, and I was not disappointed.

Chris from Hakuna MaWaka showed off some stuff as he roped in the Best Dressed Crown! No ladies wanted to show off their costumes, so we gave this stud from Ball Me Maybe the second Best Dressed crown for bringing it!

The Bar Game last week was who could create the best tin foil hat. There were certainly some creative ones!! Here’s a look at the top 3 finalists:

Now, the moment you have all been waiting for…… This weeks SUPER fun activities!

This weeks theme is… dunna nunna, nunna nunna … Batman!! Well, Batman is one SUPERHERO you could portray this week! You have so many options friends! You could go with a classic OR you can get super creative, and create your own! Gentleman, this week is the perfect excuse to get comfortable with your manhood, and sport some SUPER dope tights! For those teammates who like to do the bare minimum, there is a SUPER easy option, tie literally any piece of material around your neck for a 5 second cape!

The bar game will be A SURPRISE!! I have a fun game in mind, but I need to test it out tonight to ensure it’ll work. Some things are better in theory and fail in real life. I don’s want to show up to the bar and have the game fail and totally suck. Plus.. not all surprises are bad! Get excited people!

I’m SUPER excited to see all of you! I really do hope to see as many people as humanly (or within the limitations of the fire marshall) possible at the bar this week!
